I think I may have a good opportunity here in SA to get wild feedScreenshot_20220312-153405_Chrome.jpg
I have enquired if anything is added like minerals, but this seems good.
With winter around the corner, I had to look for other options of food for my leopard
What do you guys think?

We don't have that over here, so no one can speak from first hand experience about it. If you show us the ingredients list we can make an educated guess.

Did a bit more digging and found out that it's sadly acacia based, got exited when it said for all herbivores. For intrests sake here is the specificationsScreenshot_20220312-154856_Chrome.jpg

Well, no ingredient list but the description they gave makes it seem that it's pure acacia

I did find some teff hay on the site so I think I'll just order that, just wondering how many 500g bags I should order to last the Winter, I do think 5kg should be enoughScreenshot_20220312-161524_Chrome.jpg

I don't have a definitive answer for you, but I will share my thoughts on the matter:

In a study I read on the diet of wild leopard torts, one of the main foods was "mammal feces". The study didn't discern between ungulate feces or carnivore feces, but I'd speculate that both would be eaten opportunistically. Ungulate poop would be found in its natural form as a pellet, and I can imagine a wild leopard walking around scavenging up all the pellets. It seems these Boskos pellets might simulate that portion of the diet for a captive tortoise, much the way I think the Mazuri pellets we use over here do. Obviously very different ingredients on our Mazuri, but I've always thought of it as simulated poo.

We have teff hay over here too. I went and got some to try, and it seems very similar to Bermuda hay, which is good because Bermuda hay is a suitable feed for grass eating species. I mostly use orchard grass hay, but I mix in some Bermuda now and then too. My SA leopards ate the teff hay with no problems.

Personally, I would be willing to try those pellets. I'd soak a single pellet and mix it in with greens. It might take a while for them to accept the new food and eat it. If you do, let us know how it goes.
