Hello everyone, I'm unsure if this will be seen but I decided that I will brumate my tortoise for the first time this year. I'm in college now so I'm pretty busy. Brumation is natural process for a hermanns tortoise so i thought why not?

anyway my tortoise is a little over a year old, i recieved him as a hatchling last year. currently he is 204 grams. he has had a big "growth spurt" this month which is cool because now i know he is a male and i didn't expect to know this early on.

aside from that: i'm asking for any possible advice on this process, i've done some reading and have a general idea as to what i will do which is use a mini fridge, gradually lower temps, and not feeding tortoise for a while right before he will be put in the fridge (that will be at around 45 degrees farenheit). i would appreciate input from others who have also used this mini fridge method and if there are any other possible factors that I should think of.

as of now, i'm planning on purchasing a mini fridge before november, which is when i plan on starting the process 🤔

Have you read Tom's brumation thread yet?

yes! the process seems simple to me since my tortoise is housed indoors and will brumate indoors
