Hey everyone, I've been noticing a few different bugs in my RT indoor enclosure, the substrate is top/potting soil and it stays damp for the most part plus I spray it daily so it doesn't dry up, but anyway I the bugs I have noticed have included, ants, spiders and just now I gathering the food and water bowls to clean them and when I lifted them up 2 thousand ledgers came running out from underneath, is this normal? And do big pose a threat? I figured that its not that big of a deal because those bugs are also probably outside and in any out door home I or anyone would build.. But I dot want to be wrong and have my RT be harmed or anything from theses bugs. (Also I live right beside the woods so these bugs are common in my house in the summer and spring months, gross I know. Lol!)

I hate bugs, and frankly, I don't care if the can co-exist with my tort...i will get rid of the whole substrate, and start over. The soil you used for the substrate, was it from your yard, or did you buy soil? If you used soil from the yard, I would buy organic soil and use that instead. At least, you won't see all those kinds of bugs in the substrate. You'll eventually see tiny white bugs, but they are common and not dangerous.

No I bought organic top soil! But I was thinking since they come in my house they may just find his cage homey, I have been killing them but eventually another one comes back

Did you trans plant anything? I just stole a couple plants from my moms garden and have lots of rolly pollies(pill bugs) and a few worms. If the bugs bother you can either freeze it or boil it to kill them off. Personally I would use the later and not risk roaming bugs in the freezer.
