Hello everyone, I am fairly new to this site so please bare with me! I have a hermanns tortoise and a few months ago I found small white-ish/greyish little bugs hiding under his substrate, I had cleaned everything out and replaced the bedding but they have since come back. Any idea what they are/ harmful or ideas of how to get rid of them or prevent them from returning? I use timothy hay as bedding in a wooden box lined with plastic. Low to medium humidity and usually around 85 degrees. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

Many of the keepers on the forum utilize a natural soil substrate complete with the bugs to help keep their substrate cleaner. The bugs will eat the food particles and the tortoise discharge.

But, in the interest of peace of mind, post some pictures and some of the keeper more familiar with the beneficial bugs can offer advice.

Good luck. I hope your camera has a micro setting. :)
