How do I get rid of them? It's really annoying. They are not mites or any type of parasitic bug. I reckognize them from outside and I've lived around them my whole life and they never harmed anyone. So what my question is, how do I get them out? They got in because I had a bag of cypress mulch I kept outside. I tried replacing the mulch several times but they just come back because there are a few that just crawl out and come back in after I bring the enclosure back. So should I just put the tortoise in some enclosure without substrate so the bugs wouldn't be able to hide in there anymore? But I wouldn't want to make him unable to burrow or dig at all...

The bugs don't bother me, and they don't bother the tortoises. Other than the fungus gnats, the bugs stay in the tank. I have night crawlers in the tank, too. I added some roly poly bugs in late summer and am beginning to see some reduction in the number of teeny crawly bugs and fungus gnats.
