Hello. If you have viewed the sales section you will see I am selling Billy. You will all frown down at me after this but I know it is the right thing to do. The reason is that in the Summer holidays we are moving house. We have no where to go and will be staying with friends. I am not allowed to take him with us. Also when we do find a house it will not be big enough for Billy's needs. If we do get the house we are looking at ? The garden is tiny and paved. There is not space for a shed or greenhouse or anything. Please don't blame this on me being a child. I am sorry that I have let all the people down who thought I was am exception to child tortoise owners.but this is for the best for Billy. I don't think anyone will look down on you Bella. You are just a child and have no control over your circumstances. Stuff happens kiddo. You'll be able to have a tortoise again, even if it's when your grown. Good luck finding the right home for Billy. <3

It is very mature of you to be able to do the best for you Tortoise. Letting go is very difficult but you're doing it in a responsible way, I wish more adults would follow that example. And someday you will get another Tortoise when you're able to have more control over your environment. Good luck.

I can't imagine not having him with me. But I know he needs to be somewhere where they can get him a large enclosure and they don't go to school everyday so they can give him all the love he deserves.

Bella, understand one thing, you are doing the correct, proper thing. I received two sulcata tortoises last year from a young man that was very distraught over parting with his dear friends. He knew he could no longer give them what they needed, and so was wanting them to be where they could thrive as he wished they could. I let him know that what he was doing was of honor, and though sad, something he should hold his head high for seeing past his own ego. We still email each other and I send him pictures of the tortoises he cared enough about to do what was best for them. You too are doing the honorable. And as your life continues, don't forget your friends here on the forum. Stop in and say high and let us keep up to date with the things in your world.

Bella:

If you'll start a conversation with me and let me know how much you want for Billy and where you are located, I'll update your ad.

Don't feel bad. We all understand where you're coming from, and sympathize.

I was gonna post a 10 paragraph rant here, but I decided against it.

In all honesty I believe it shows great maturity to do what's best for the tortoise, and not our own desires. I promise to ban anyone who comes her and chews you out over your choice, kay, :)
And by the way if you are sans tortoise for a few years, you can still contribute here.

Bella,

We've all had circumstances change in our lives over which our control was limited. Twice as an adult I moved to places where my tortoises couldn't come with. I was very unhappy about it, but I found them good homes and that was great for them.

I'm a much older adult now and hope that I never make such a move again. Life throws us all curve balls at times, oh you're British and that's an Americanism based on baseball. Means what you might think, there are bumps in the road that none of us expect in advance.

You're a very enthusiastic young tortoise keeper. Likely there will be several more tortoises in your future.

That's sad news Bella but you are definitely doing what's best for Billy. Did you not get another marginated tortoise though?
Yes we did. That was before we found out we were moving and it sounded like a great idea. We have her back to the owner but the owner wouldn't accept Billy.

So sorry to here you have to give them up. I do agree with everyone else. You are doing the right thing for your shelled friends and that is very mature and loyal of you. Like already said, you don't have to leave us. Stop in, fill your empty spot with the tortoises on here until the day comes you can again have another.:)

I don't think I will ever leave tortoise forum. If it's not for the tortoises it's for the people. They are all so nice on here. :):)
