Hi All,

Newbie to the site but finding it a great place to get advice.

I have a 8 year old Hermann and try to give him the best diet possible growing weeds and edible plants.

I read that cactus is great for tortoise diet, can anyone advise where the best place in the UK to buy them? Want to make sure what I buy is suitable for consumption.

Thanks in advance

I'm not in the UK, but larger grocery stores usually carry a larger variety of vegetables and greens, and ethnic/Hispanic grocery stores will usually stock cactus pads.
Variety is important, but no one type of greens is absolutely necessary, in my opinion.

I doubt if you'll be able to find cactus in the UK. It needs a hot, dry climate to grow. Unless your grocery stores import the cleaned and processed for human consumption cactus.

Best bet, is to order, catus pads, from Amazon, buy good quality. Ones, and plant one of the pads in potting soil , and grow your own, they are sold as potted plants, almost everywhere, however they have toxic chemicals used for plants to grow , these are meant to be house plants, I know you can wait so long to feed them after you change the soil, not sure how long it takes for this to leave the plant, I find it better to buy a pad and grow your own,
