i live in south louisiana and was wondering if there is any way to get catus for my sulcata...also someone posted that they feed theirs fruit and i was always told not to..any suggestions? I also would like to plant some things he can eat..any suggestions would be appreciated..

Opuntia cactus starts from cuttings very easily. My suggestion would be to buy some from one of our members who sell it (spikethebest and coastal are two that spring to mind). If you get more than one pad, feed some, but place one pad on the kitchen counter for a couple weeks so the end can cure. Then either just lay it on the ground or plant the cut end in the ground. They root very easily, but have to be protected during cold weather until it gets to be a big plant. Water sparingly.

Sulcatas actually LOVE fruit...but that doesn't mean they should have much of it. An occasional treat is fine, but not a whole meal and not very often.
