They are of the beautiful species...:p...my post here will bump your thread back to the front of the line so to speak...some of the others that are experienced with these turtles will likely chime in .....

a very old eastern boxie, perhaps? i know they lose their vibrant colors as they age, but you can kinda see a bit of that coloring on the skin. im no turtle expert, but from the many posts ive seen here, thats what it resembles to me.

Emys orbicularis. Good luck identifying the subspecies without some genetic testing, or knowing exactly what pond they were taken from.

I was very tempted to buy them last night,Box turtles are really hard to get hold of here and they were only £100 for the pair,but I know next to nothing about turtles .In the winter would i have to put them in a viv or would it be better to hibernate them.

Well, they're not box turtles...they're European pond turtles - semi-aquatic turtles similar to our native pond turtles.

They're pretty Euros though for sure. They look like older specimens. I assume they were wild caught. Do you know the country of origin on these?
