Hi guys,
I was wondering if someone has or had a chameleon. I would like to hear someones personal opinion on them. are they really hard to care for. what are their personalities and so forth.

The easiest species of chameleon is the veiled chameleon. They grow quickly and eat voraciously. They are also easy to sex. Still not the hardiest lizards though. Pick up a book on them before you buy one. They do better in cages than aquariums. If you can keep a veiled alive and thriving then maybe consider a harder to keep species.

I would have to more or less agree with Acro. In my experience, veiled chameleons are not overly difficult to care for, but like many herp species, they do have specific needs. Harder than, say, a leopard gecko or a skink? Absolutely; they do need more than a glass tank, a water dish, a hide and a basking light.

I have kept them equally well in glass tanks as well as screened enclosures. There are advantages and disadvantages to each, and a lot depends on your own environment and home.
