Coconut coir mess

today i took out some of the coconut bark, and added a bag of the loose coconut coir, and igore was checking it out and like always he loves walking through is food and water dishes, even though he has a clear path to walk across. i can definitely tell im going to love cleaning his water bowl 5 times a day :p

haha, thats the one bad thing about coco coir!! we always have to sift though his coir to get out all the greens he drags around! and the water thing ooooh boy what a pain but iv watched my guy sit their and fling coir in the water on purpose then get it their will it!! what a mess!

That is one of the reasons I stopped using it for my red-footeds.

You can make a sort of 'patio' around the water area with pebbles, pieces of ceramic or slate tiles, etc. and it will help.

yeah, after i noticed this being a problem i used the coconut chips under and around the food/water bowls to help the situation. aside from the mess, i think the benefits make it worth the mess :)
