But do they sense the weather outside even when they live in a constant 80 degree sunny environment? My little guy has hardly come out of his hidey hole yesterday and today. The weather here is horrible, cold and lots of snow is being dumped on us at the moment. I've checked and rechecked his temps, he is warm and cozy just not very active...not really worried, just curious as I know we all have blah days LOL..

I believe they can sense bad weather, yes.
My tort, Tidgy, goes into a panic when a thunderstorm is approaching, she can sense it before wifey and i do.

It's the barometric pressure. We aren't tuned in to it, but animals are.
Hey maybe thats why I have a killer headache today...hmm LOL But seriously, he does seem to be in tune with the weather outside :) which I find totally fascinating.
