I went to the Ventura County Fair today with my wife and youngest daughter.
I was excited to see a display by the CTTC, but was a bit disappointed when I entered.
Many of the animals on display were in pretty poor shape (terrible pyramiding and MBD). The animals were kept in totally bare enclosures, with one or 2 wilted mulberry leaves and an ear of corn (?). There were also a couple of species mis-identified.
I fear that the impression left with the public was that that was an acceptable way to house tortoises and turtles, and that pyramiding and MBD is normal for tortoises.
The people I met there were very nice, and I am sure well intentioned, but they could have done better, I thought.
