I have lived in Oregon for 20 years now, and in all that time finding 'fine' grade orchid bark has been difficult. My sister has kept me provided with the stuff I was used to, but I have bought some here...now look at this baby's face...and legs...DSCN3141.JPGI used to make fun of our friends in the UK cuz they didn't 'soak' their torts, they give them a 'bath' and scrub the tort with a toothbrush! But now I am giving him a 'bath' and scrubbing him with a soft toothbrush, which means he throws projectile urine on my chest...lol...I hate seeing him all dark...DSCN3137.JPGDSCN3133.JPG
Keeping a baby Sulcata in the humid environment that we know they need now, is so freakin foreign to me...but here is a picture of my small Sulcata taken inside his tank...look at the humidity...DSCN3073.JPG
he doesn't seem to be pyramiding anymore...He was living on hay before me...I'm thinking his shell is looking almost alright...except for the color...lol
he's living in Layla's old hide...DSCN3129.JPG

My goodness that looks like it turned to mud. I could not find orchid bark here other than small bags. I use cypress mulch and mine does not turn like that mushy mess.

I hope you can figure it out. At lest he/she is enjoying all the humidity it is creating.

People in the UK do seem to have trouble sourcing their substrate as @Littleredfootbigredheart can tell you...

I use coco coir as all the bark and mulch here is made from pine (Pinus sylvestris) or contains it.
