Been noticing my tortoises nails getting longer recently and he doesn't necessarily have any where to scratch them on. since this is the case would it be okay to trim them and can i use normal nail trimmers. (the tortoise is 4 years old)

They usually don't need trimming if he is properly housed on proper substrate with some flat slate or rock to walk over and eat food from.
Post a pic of the nails and his enclosure and we can help with what might need changing to help him.

If you post a few pictures of the tortoise and enclosure, we will be better able to help you. Thanks.

Hi, add some low stones to the enclosure to help. Clipping nails is complicated as they have a blood vein in the, so you have to clip carefully. Dog claw clippers are better to use. I recommend going to a reptile shop and getting beak and claws checked and if they need doing get an expert there to help you out.
