Unfortunately, we need to find a home for our sulfate, "Bill". Bill is about 3 years old and is 8 pounds and growing! Although we are fond of Bill, our home is much too small to provide him with the living space he needs.

I have tried contacting local zoos and await a reply, but would also be happy to donate Bill to a good home with those who can give him a good home.

Hi Biggaffen:

Welcome to the forum!

Unfortunately, zoos don't want our no longer wanted Sulcatas.

Where are you located? I may be able to find a turtle rescue in your area.

I am just curious about something. I have a Sulcata tortoise and I thought for a long time before I got him. I knew how large they get and how demanding it can be to have a cow / tortoise living in your yard. My question is did you know the requirement of having a sulcata and still got it or did you get it with limited knowledge of them. Was it a gift that was given to you. The reason I am asking this is because it seems people totally ignore me when I try to discourage them from getting a tortoise if they are not in a position where they can care for an animal that can get this large. I have a buddy that lives with his parents and just recently bought three sulcatas. It makes no sense to me.. I am asking these questions so that I can understand how people end up with these guys and then have to give them up. I don't know your situation, and I am not in any way coming down on you. I just want to learn what would be an effective way to discourage someone that is just obviously not in the position to keep a Sully. Good luck placing him.

Thank you for your help. Want to provide Bill with the comfort he needs.

When we saw little baby Bill, my son and I went nuts.. When we asked he store staff for guidance, we were only told what they eat and how old they get. We new he would get bigger, but not this size already.
I suppose the best thing to do is to check I formation on line prior. We feel badly about giving Bill away, but he deserves a Breyer quality of life..

If you were closer I would gladly take him in. I wish you the best in finding him a good home.

The original poster is a very new forum member and probably doesn't come back very often. It would be best if you were to send an email rather than a PM.
