Don't know where to start!!

Hello everyone,

I am really hoping that someone can offer me some advise on here. My daughter has been really interested in getting a tortoise for a few years now. I have finally decided that this year I may get her one for Christmas. Problem being that I have no idea where to start. I brought a book and have been reading through it but what I wanted was some personal advise. I am wondering what species of tortoise if any are recommended for beginners? Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Forum!!

Any tortoise you get should be purchased with the thought in mind that the tortoise will eventually be set up outside in a large, safe outdoor habitat. In my opinion, it isn't fair to the tortoise to have to live in the house all the time.
