it seems my Russian has a very dry shell and I have noticed the same on my Hermans, do I need to provide a certain vitamin? Soak them more or is it normal. I rescued the Russian he has always been a bit dry.

I occasionally use mineral oil or coconut oil on tortoise shells. But after about 15 minutes to soak in, I polish it all off with a clean, absorbent cloth.

Cute baby eating :D. But their enclosures are far too small. They need much more space.

You can build them with a little help. It is the best and cheapest way :). That's what we did for our Hermanni, both indoors and outdoors. The only downside is we have an open table but as he has his own room so humidity isn't an issue. Go into the enclosure section, people even make them on two floors to save space.
