So Dwight is new to me and new to soaking. He is not a fan. I have tried previous times and he wanted out so I got a new tub today with higher sides. He still wanted out, bad. He would walk into a side and then just keep walking. I got this picture in the only 30 seconds he was still. We soaked for 8 mins. I made sure the water was warm.
Any insight?

Just keep doing it regular. He'll get used to the routine and was he realizes he's always going to get out and not get left in a mud hole he should calm down some. Although the exercise they get in the soak is always good.

Just keep doing it. He will get over it. Even if he never likes them, that's too bad for him. The soaks are an important factor in my opinion.

At first my sulcata did the same thing, always trying to get out, but after a couple weeks he stopped, and now he even stretches out and relaxes in his warm bath. The only time he tries to get out is when the water gets too cold, then it's time to take him out anyway.

I would also add more water as he gets used to soaking.

Leo did not like baths when we first got him. I found that he preferred a nice warm shower so I start him off with the shower then after a while I put the plug in the bath so that it gradually fills up!
Now after a year he loves the shower and the bath! :)

My tips for successful soaking:

1. Do it at the start of the day before your tort has warmed up properly
2. Experiment with the water temperature until you find the right one for relaxation. You tort can take a basking lamp at 105F; l am not suggesting your water should be that hot, but it shiws that the water can be quite warm. You will learn to feel with your hand the temperature that makes your tort relax
3. Make sure your tort cannot see out of it's bath tub!

I agree with the previous statement that he needs more water in there.
