So as I nursing the red foots I rescued from the pet store, back to health today, I was also giving my adult Russian's a soak.
I noticed my female did not want to settle down after her soak and kept circling the enclosure. I shut the door to the room and checked back on her after the lights turned off. What do I see?! Digging! I got out of there as fast as I could, I didn't want to disturb her! Guess I better get the incubator ready :D

Did you notice if she was digging with her front or back feet?

It was her back feet, I don't know that I have ever seen her dig much with her front... I think she does that when she is digging in her hide :) She always seems to have this behavior when she lays eggs. I am not sure if anyone else experiences their Russian's circling before laying eggs...

Exciting! Have you had eggs from her before??

I have had many eggs from her! The first few clutches did not hatch, as I knew nothing about incubation and I think it was too humid in the incubator. I have had 10 hatch. From the last clutch only one did not hatch. The last clutch hatched in May. I actually just turned the incubator off, realizing the last egg just wasn't going to make it :( It looked like a good egg, I am not sure what happened.

Good luck, hope you get some eggs

Digging that hole must have been too much work for my little girl. She fell asleep in her hole and no eggs :( I've seen her do this before, so at least I know she is ready and just needs some more time. I am guessing I will find some eggs in the next few weeks!

My girls are extremely picky about their nest digging. Some will dig test holes for a couple of weeks sometimes returning to a favored site before settling on one. I have a last clutch that i don't think she bothered to fertilize. It was a second clutch of the year for this female and she laid them above ground. I'm debating switching the incubator off but can't bring myself to quite yet...

I know how you feel... never quite ready to turn it off, because you may never know when one of the girls might be ready!
I wish I would have turned the incubator back on Sunday night. When I came home from work on Monday, she had two eggs waiting for me and I had to rush to get it all ready again. I put WAY too much water in and have been working on the humidity ever since :( Hopefully it won't affect the eggs at this point!

Yes! She laid two this time. She usually lays between 2 and 3. Now it is time to play the waiting game :)
