Hi all,
I am a newbie here and would like some advice please.
Our Hermann tortoise is over 60 years young.
However, she has no partner and has recently begun laying eggs. Is this normal behaviour etc?

I would welcome any advice.

Thank you.

Hi, and welcome to the Forum!

Some tortoises go their whole lives never laying eggs (when not in the company of a male), and some are like chickens - laying unfertilized eggs every year. It's interesting that your started laying after 60 years, though. Just be sure to supplement occasionally with calcium. Don't interrupt her, and allow her to go through the whole process so she feels she has accomplished what she set out to do.
