A powerline next to my house fell down so the power is out therefore my tortoise doesn’t have any lights on or his heating pad right now, so how can I help stay warm and not die?

Hopefully you & tortoise are inside? What kind of tortoise? One night of suboptimal temps won’t kill anything.

Bring him in to the warmest part of your house and stuff him full of blankets, insulation, etc, to maintain what body heat he has. Send someone to a sporting goods place (maybe even Walmart) to buy a product called Hot hands (an artificial heat source).

No matter what, he will mix them all up for his own entertainment! Just let him bury himself, and get ready to dig through a blocked doorway occasionally. Oh well.

I hope you all can stay warm without power. I'm afraid with the wind that's supposed to be coming that we may lose power also. I have a backup heat source though.🙏🤗

Whoever has a gas stove can boil a pot or kettle of water and use it to help warm up the area the tortoise is in. Just don't let any contact be possible as you don't want a burnt tortoise.

You say it's a baby sulcata, if it's small enough you can use your own body heat to help keep it warm. Just put it in a small cloth bag or even a thick sock would work. If it's to big for that you can heat uncooked rice in your car on the defroster vents. Hopefully your power is back on soon. Good Luck

I do that and a Mr Big Buddy but I have a small house and it's not hard to heat. The pots boiling on the stove add humidity. I like the hot water bottles idea also to have on hand even for me. I like those better than heating pads.

We are predicted power cuts, so i bought a kettle for the gas cooker & a hot water bottle in a fur case, to help keep my leopard tortoise warm just in case. I hope all goes well. Amanda

Coolers are pretty good for insulation. That plus tom's hot water bottles and rags. You can get some ideas from people's makeshift incubators.

And it sounds crazy but snuggle up to him I usually put my legs over them under the blankets and believe me it gets really toasty for them

Oh another thing that I use is those hand warmers I put them on top of them under a blanket

Milk Jugs filled with hot water, changed before they get cold (every couple or three hours). And car heaters if all else fails. The body warmth is a great idea for little ones.
