Believe it or not you can get the screen material at Home Depot. You can build your own screens up to 80". The aluminum pieces for the frame come in several different colors and you cut them to your custom size with a hack saw. They sell the corner pieces, so everything just slides together.

I got my plants, chose a good variety. I hope everyone approves. Staining top blocks and building screen. Planting flowers and putting down mulch this evening when it is cooler. Wish me luck...I have a busy day ahead of me.

I wouldn't add any substrate if it were me. I would take a shovel and till it all real good, mixing up the mulch into the virgin soil, then rake it smooth and tamp it down. Once you get some oxygen into the dirt its going to sprout all kinds of weeds for your guys to eat. Substrate would hinder the growth.
