I’m building an outdoor enclosure for my future red foot tortoise and I was wondering what would be the best substrate. Should I just leave it with dirt/grass? Or should I go buy something else to put in it?

When I make outdoor habitats I don't import any 'substrate'. I just leave the natural dirt/grass.

The only thing we are worried about with leaving the grass is how are we going to cut the grass when it gets tall.

And you can always take them out, weed whack it down, and pop them back in.
