Can a tortoise live in a 4x2 table

Well this very much depends what species of tortoise as well as the age of the tortoise. Any specific species of tortoise you are asking about?

A very young tortoise might be able to settle into a 4'x2' table for a couple years, but an adult tortoise of any kind would soon be anxious and stressed by the small size.

Did you not read my last comment?
"any BABY tortoise"

No adult tortoise can live in that small of a cage. ONE ADULT russian needs at least 6'x4'.

I agree with this. My five inch Russian tortoise is in a 4'x2' enclosure and doesn't seem very content. Go as big as you can.

And only ONE Russian can live in a 6'x4' cage. I have a handful of them in a 10'x13' area and they are still cramming for mire room.

My friends lives in a 50 gallon tank and is fine.

I will consider that as a animal cruelty.

And it seems like your mind already made, but you come here to ask for opinion. Please do listen to those who suggested to provide as much as space as you can for any tortoise. If the only space you can offer is 2X4. Do not get any tortoises. We thank you for that.

What kind of tortoise is it? And maybe you just don't realize that the tortoise ISN'T fine because it is your friend's and not yours.

Being 'just fine' isn't what we strive for. What we want is being the best that we can be. And having a tortoise that's hard-wired to wander far and wide to find food, in a very small (yes, 50 gallons is very small - its measured up the sides, not floor space) habitat is not offering the best that we can for the tortoise.

I'm getting the sense, from all your various threads, that you'll keep asking questions until someone finally gives you the answer you want. Please read the care sheet links we gave you, and make an informed decision about what tortoise best fits into your life style. Don't take our word for it - read, read read!

This is the difference between SURVIVE and THRIVE. People suffering from unfortunate things like hunger and poverty are SURVIVING but not THRIVING. See the difference?

RE: Space

Have you read the posts in your previous threads? The care sheets?

How big is your Russian? I will go as big as you can.

At least 4 foot by 6 foot when it full grown.

I agree with tffnytorts there's a difference between thriving and surviving my russian lives in a 4x2 winter home with a second level now that is 2x2 and seems to not like it at ALL . but mine has an outdoor enclosure. 4x2 is too small

RE: Size

Hi Cole:

You're asking these same questions all over the place. If you'll just read the posts that have already been made on the subjects you're interested in, you'll get all the info you need. We've posted it over and over again, and it is very easy to find. We don't mind helping you, but you have to do a little bit of the work yourself too. Don't expect us to do it all for you.

Sounds like the Greek tortoise has caught your eye . There is a Greek section under Mediterranean tortoise that you can read up on posts like Yvonne is suggesting. You will learn more information that way verses waiting for a response. Also check and see if there are any stickies like care sheets etc. I hope that helps.
