I have an Adult RT with an indoor enclouse. Do you shop up his greens or do you just pick off pieces for your torts?

I only chop greens for babies. Otherwise for my adult Russian I just give him a hand full of food and let him rip it apart. Better for their beaks

Indoors, I chop up only because I have quite a few mouths to feed and want to make sure they each get a good mix. Outdoors, I just walk through the garden picking leaves and flowers and toss them in the enclosure. Grapevines are a favorite of mine because it's so easy to just cut off a few stems and toss them in the enclosures.

Whole leaves are the way to go, unless you have babies or are a breeder, with many mouths to consistently feed. Keeps their beaks in shape!

I feed whole food items to everything, including brand new hatchlings.

No choppy choppy for me.

He'll drink if he needs to do so. He's probably getting enough water from his diet and soaks. If his water dish is big enough for him to sit in, he can absorb water through his cloaca as well, which he'll also do when he's being soaked of course.

Unless just out of hibernation, I have never seen my Russian drink from or sit in her water saucer. In fact, we got rid of it after a year because it was attracting birds and we have cats.

She sometimes licks water off a plant, that's it.

She gets a weekly soak, during which she also never drinks. But at least I know she's had a chance!

I put the food down only in the morning.(though 6 am is the middle of the night and far too early for me.;))
If it is all gone by the evening, it wasn't enough so put more in the next day, if there is food left, it was plenty.
