feeding

I rescued a tortoise a week ago who wasnt looked after properly he had never been given weeds and had only ever been fed on tortoise pellets he is an adult male hermann tortoise. I have tried to tempt him to eat weeds and veg but he wont eat any he doesnt seem to know what it is. I have also tried mixing pellets with weeds but he only wants the pellets. Any ideas to get him eating a proper tortoise diet?

Just feed the weeds and nothing else he will soon get hungry enough to eat them. I recently got 2 adult tortoises that were fed on salad foods for the last 50 years, since coming to me they have got onto a weed based diet and now scoff the lot, They were a little picky at first but soon got the hang of it, just keep him well hydrated while he is not eating.

I'm glad you got him. Every 14 days, in America that is called neglect if not abuse as I know it's called in England.Just keep on with weeds
