Fig leaves?

I looked at the "Food for desert dwelling type of Tortoises..." thread and read that figs are on the non-poisonous plants list. Does that include the leaves?

EDIT: I have read conflicting articles/entries in regards to figs, so yeah, a little confused.

Both fig leaves and the fruit are edible, though the sap can be an irritant.

Could you expand on that a little bit? In what way can it be an irritant: internally or externally?

It can be a skin irritant to humans, though I imagine it wouldn't be pleasant internally either. I've never had a negative reaction when feeding the leaves to animals but it is something to be aware of.
