I live in southeast Louisiana, and I built a really rough outdoor pen for my redfoot tortoises (basically just 4 boards nailed together 5 ft x 5 ft). I generally just put them out there when I am home. Anyways, I put them out at lunch and put some meal worms in their enclosure for them to find and munch on. When I came back from walking my dog (20 mins), there were FIREANTS everywhere. The tortoises seemed to have run away, but will a few bites hurt them? How do I keep the fireants from coming back??
