first... but not the last....

Ok, so we have this little inside enclosure for our baby sulcata... but in maybe 3 weeks we will be starting on a BIG on.. about 7' long by 4' wide.. planning on having three to four different levels for our romper to roam around..

here is our present enclosure... Just a little to small.
i am looking for some advice on what kind of substrate we should use and what ratio for it... we are planning on growing some plants and maybe her weeds in it as well.. and suggestions on what is best to grow.. or well.. easiest to get and grow is more like it any help would be appreciated

oh.. a little teaser for what kind of material we are using for her obstacles.. thats a bridge we made to get used to useing the bamboo.. a little difficult but once we get better it should be amazing..

For substrate you'll want something that can hold moisture and increase humidity. Most people use cypress mulch, coco coir, orchid bark, sphagnum moss or plain soil. Most of us agree to avoid sand. Too much risk of impaction or eye irritation. All that moisture means you'll need to waterproof the wood you use to build the enclosure. That's why I typically use plastic tubs and horse watering troughs now.

Can't wait to see a multi-level tortoise condo!

we are planning on useing tarp between the substrate and the wood for water protection.. i cant wait to get started on it.. i will have start to finish photos for everyone to see.. and hopefully steal some ideas from us
