As the weather turns I am going to have to move my guys inside and have a question of the best flooring to use for them. They are going to be in a room in the basement that is concrete. They are Amazon yellows. The surface area is about 8x8 give or take. I need something to put down over the concrete that is not to exspensive I will be throwing it out after this winter(they will have a much better winter home next year). Any thoughts on what to use or what somone has used would be a great help.
Thanks,
Tyler

Hi Tyler:

I have a few winter houses set up on the carport, cement floor. First I put down a sheet of plywood, then I put up cinderblock walls around the edges of the plywood. This year I'm experimenting with diatomaceous earth. I put down a layer of D.E. THEN I put down the plywood. Ants just love to get in there under the pig blankets, so hopefully this will keep them out.

I add substrate (I use orchid bark) right on the plywood. I don't care to protect the wood because, like you, it is only going to be for the one season. Daily, when I feed and water, I just squirt the whole enclosure with water from the hose.
