I am wondering if it is OK to freeze my tortoise food? Such as cactus, squash, shredded carrots? I am also wondering is the left over shredded carrorts from our juicer is ok to give my tort? The Juicer seperates the juice from the hard stuff.

Greetings ~

I make a good sized amount of food for my torties at once and then put it in a plastic bowl with a lid to keep in fresh in the refer: I have never tried to freeze tortie food before. And sure, the shredded carrot left over from a juicer would be a nice addition to add to your torties "salad".

Actually, you can even grow the cactus pads, just place them in cactus soil, add water and they will take root; that's how I keep my pads "fresh".

Hope this reply helped ~
Be well,

The consistency changes, and not sure about nutritional value, but they sell for US to eat, so it cant be too bad.. but fresh is best.
I have frozen sqaush and pumpkin for winter time, fresh in the summer. I I grow the cactus in the road median out front.. Privte road.. no one has complained.. better then dead grass!
easy to grow.
