I have searched for more info but I couldn't find anything. The area directly beneath their jaw, both mine would pulse, randomly, like this, what does it mean?20211130_112317.gif
Also, Zvezda's been enjoying her new habitat, but she doesn't use the waterbowl, at all, she walks the perimter, like torts do, but she doesn't bathe in it, perhaps because the water is cool?

That's just breathing I think.

Is the water dish sunk level with the substrate so that it's easily accessible for her?
It could just be that she doesn't need or want to soak or drink at the times you're watching her.
You can lead a tort to water but you cannot make it drink or soak.;)

The Hingeback is breathing deeply...perhaps smelling you as you approach (checking for food?), or woke up suddenly.

The Leopard may not be familiar with a soaking pan. Give that time and soak daily manually to try and develop the habit. The only way to know if it is too cool where the pan sits is to check the water temp. Experiment with different locations nearer to a heat source (not directly under).

My question today is about full spectrum fluorescent tube lights, the reason I ask is about this little fella20211130_112256_015.jpg
He is (as mentioned) a zombensis hingeback, they live beneath dense shrubery and only receive dappled light. The thing is he needs more sunlight. I have taken him outside, under strict supervision, never taking my eyes of him, but this isn't sustainable, and the "open" enviroment clearly stresses him out. If outside he always hides beneath my shadow or any shadow possible, and that's why I'd like to install the light.
My question is, should it be t5, and also, do hingebacks need that much sunlight? (obviously they need some, but for how long should the light be on?)
Also if it says G5 on the light, what does it mean? Thanks!

@Kapidolo Farms knows this genus well.

You can also reach out to the Kinixys Cooperative. I think they are on FB, and I'm sure they would LOVE to have you on board as someone from the native environment of the genus they work with.

You want the light to be on during the day, and you use plants, hides, etc to create areas that mimic the dappled areas for him to get away from the light.

G5 refers to the bi-pin base on the fluorescent tube.

It means they are breathing. Just like when your diaphragm goes up and down when you breath, but their plastron prevents their tummy from visibly moving.
