Does anyone have a link for a good basking bulb for my baby leopard? And how much wattage is required for a 3x3 enclosure ?
Only your thermometer can tell you what wattage to use. Depends on ambient heat and enclosure ventilation, among other variables. I use 65 watt flood bulbs in winter, and in some of my enclosures, I have to switch to 25 watt bulbs in summer to keep them from over heating.Does anyone have a link for a good basking bulb for my baby leopard? Are there other brands that make equivalent to the Arcadia solar basking (that don't have the color of the Golden Sun)? Also noticed that no other brand lists UVA like the Arcadia solar basking bulb does. Is that important? This bulb says incandescentHello!
This bulb is a good one:
https://www.chewy.com/arcadia-reptile-110v-goldensun/dp/1364422 (you can pair it with a LED light to make basking area brighter and more attractive).
Non-colored version, just Arcadia Solar Basking Floodlight, not GoldenSun is even better, but hard to find in US now (due to ban of incandescent bulbs).
50W or 75W should be enough for a "closed chamber" enclosure.

When you see mention of UVA on halogen and regular incandescent bulbs it's more a marketing trick. Are there other brands that make equivalent to the Arcadia solar basking (that don't have the color of the Golden Sun)? Oh that’s a shame! The zilla looked the right one to meWhen you see mention of UVA on halogen and regular incandescent bulbs it's more a marketing trick.
There are other flood-type incandescent bulbs. Fluker's seems to be the right one. Frosted glass and wide beam angle (if it's specified) help to choose the right one.
Zilla has a power density chart - https://www.zillarules.com/-/media/...nt-spot-bulbs/096316671492/09631667149206.jpg Beam is narrow, so this bulb is not suitable. They also have "pear-shaped", non-reflector bulb - you can use it with a wide dome to create large enough basking area.

These were the other ones found in store yesterday but none looked appropriate compared to the zilla oneWhen you see mention of UVA on halogen and regular incandescent bulbs it's more a marketing trick.

GoldenSun from Arcadia are okay. Basically the same bulbs as non-colored. I would pair it with an ambient LED during daytime (it's not strictly necessary, though).Oh that’s a shame! The zilla looked the right one to me
I’m curious what you think of these ones?

And just to be sure, is this the bulb you’re referring?

I think I'll side with the Arcadia in this case then. I have led light in the enclosure alreadyCan't say anything about Thrive at the moment but can look at it.
ExoTerra Intense Basking Spot (despite the name), probably can be used at correct (greater) distance. The beam is about 45 degrees (not wide but not extremely narrow) and there is some gradient around central area. I have to make a disclaimer that Markw84 advised against these bulbs and if you have better options - try them first. On the other hand, Chris Leone put these bulbs in hatchlings boxes but he limits basking bulb timings.
Hey Tom! where do you usually buy the 25 watt bulbs? Thanks.Only your thermometer can tell you what wattage to use. Depends on ambient heat and enclosure ventilation, among other variables. Nowhere anymore. I find bulbs wherever I can get them these days. A friend just gave me a bunch from his Mom's attic.Hey Tom! where do you usually buy the 25 watt bulbs? Thanks.
Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. Sounds like they’re not easy to find anymore.Nowhere anymore. I find bulbs wherever I can get them these days. A friend just gave me a bunch from his Mom's attic.
