I haven't been on much lately- Decembers' are hectic!
The first week of December is when I GOT Kronk (then, his name was Tank). As a 1 year anniversary of the day we got him (Gotcha Day), my husband made him a HUGE winter expansion mansion! We are still working to finish it, but it is 10 feet long, 3 feet wide, partially covered, with 4 inches of substrate- coco coir- a cake pan for a water dish for now...from near to far (or left to right) he has a flood bulb 75w, a UVA/B lamp 75 w, a Moonglow lamp 75w, and a CHE 75w. The flood and UVA are on a timer 7am to 7pm, the moonglow light (with uvb) is on from 7pm to 10 pm, and the CHE is constantly on. The entire thing is covered every night in 2 layers of camo denim.

Wow, love the size, good job. I like his play toys. A few plants added would add a nice touch for him, even better if you can find real edible ones. Xmas cactus that should still be out is one you could get, changed the dirt, let them grow out for a few months then add. Now, if you could find some of the living heads of greens, they are usually organic and could be added now. Just a suggestion.

Sounds good for me- I'm kinda waiting, cuz it's a weird season right now. It's new years and we are just now getting cold temps, lol... I'd like a spider plant... are Christmas cacti edible AND spineless?

Everything is better with camo!

Are you able to maintain the correct temps with that heating and lighting set up? What is the ambient?

I'd suggest orchid bark when you next change the substrate. Its a lot less messy than the coir.

Yes, Christmas cactus is spineless and edible. I try to buy it now, only time available where I live and then I use it the following winter. It could be used sooner, as long as you change out the dirt and let it grow out for 3 months or so. It's a plan ahead for next winter kinda thing for me. Unfortunately, I haven't found any yet this winter.

Ambient stays between 85- 88 and directly under the flood, hits between 98- 102... we don't have a humidity level, but when I open the top in the morning, it's all covered in DEW and my glasses are fogged over!!
