I am a resent owner & newly found lover of Sulcata torts! My Georgie is 23 lbs and a hoot! She (I think) follows me around the yard like a puppy & is very affectionate! She loves her shell rubbed & petted. We rescued her from a cement culvert behind our house. The she could not get out & I was afraid she would turn herself over on her back! Asked around & posted signs but nobody claimed her. She obviously had been fed too much protein because she had developed spikes on her shell. I have done tons of research to find the best foods & habitat for her.
My only problem right now is it is just so dang hot here in AZ! Some research says up to 100 degrees, others say max 85 degrees. Both are a lot lower than what it gets outside. I put a water drip line over her shelter to help but it is a constant struggle. She does dig down under the house or even our trailer that is holding junk which did colapse but she was not under it at the time. Whew!
Anyway, I am glad to be a part of your community!
