Thank you so much for your help over the past week. My Russian thanks you as well! He is very much so enjoying his new 48" x 30" enclosure. He is more active, eating a better diet, has a brand new UV light and is enjoying soaks 3-4 times a week.
The glass tank was what he was living in before, then the kiddie pool was briefly an idea..but the storage tubs are permanent!
He still occasionally tries to get out even though the walls are too high. :\
Also aloe plants in an enclosure? Hope they're ok, I have 2 in there now I'm trying to revive. I'm hoping they can dry out a bit and get some good UV in there. Chompy has not tried to eat them thank goodness, but that might be because they are half dead lol.
Thank you tortoise forum!

Glad your both are happier. A Russian will try to get out of any size enclosure, at least that is what I have been learning with my own. No matter the size, we still wants more:D

Looking better. You still need a "white" bulb for daytime basking.

Just heat and a normal light spectrum. The tube will provide UV. The red light provides the wrong colors for your tort. You don't want to give your tort the wrong color perception; he may start eating the wrong things.

Try a 75w flood light or spot light. Adjust height or wattage to control temperature of basking spot.

Good luck.
