I would not use 3/4" PVC... It bends just like 1/2" but heavy as hell. My experience is limited, though. For better thermal insulation I would opt for removable XPS or EPS insulation panels.
What type of Polystyrene are you referring to? Is layered with some sort of outer shell or are you just using regular insulation panels?

I'm using just plain 1" XPS panels for now (they were cheap and easily available). I cover the enclosures for a few months in the winter (when room temperature dips in low 60s) using sticky magnets for attachment. Top, side and back walls are covered (from the outside, obviously).

It's not looking pleasant at all, but pretty efficient at reducing condensation and keeping temperarures stable. Probably, I will replace side and back panels with a custom enclosure background later on.

Only real update so far is that I haven’t built a tank yet. Probably won’t for some time. Grabbed a 5x2x2 on a Black Friday deal for $300 and Tamil will be moving into that likely in the next week or so (whenever the silicone is done off-gassing)

Definitely took forever cause I got the flu and then Covid right behind it, but Tamil is a happy tort! Did a good 4-5 laps before bed last night. I now feel super bad for a 1-2 year old Herman’s my friend pet sat because they’re in just a Rubbermaid tub. If my little 5-month old is happy to run around a 10 sq ft area, I’m sure bigger torts would love that, too. Poor thing :(

EDIT: Walls are wet cause I got substrate everywhere and used my mister to clean them off. I don't mist her regularly. And the top is covered in 1/4" acrylic over the recessed screen to keep all that good humidity in :)
