I have a friend that recently took in a few hatchling Sonoran torts. She is looking to place them in loving/forever homes. She was hoping for families without tortoises (turtles are fine)? Probably not going to find anyone here but thought I'd ask...

I'm in Mesa, AZ.

Thanks,
Shelly

A note of explanation to anyone who might be interested in these tortoises...

Sonoran desert tortoises are a protected species. They cannot be bought, sold or taken from the wild. They cannot be moved across the state line. It is perfectly legal to adopt them.

Oh phooey. I live in the wrong city, county and state.
I hope you and your friend find great homes for them.
Shelly, have your friend refer the new hosts/keepers that adopt the little ones to TFO so they join and have wonderful information and support on how to care for them the best. We all want those babies to thrive.

Good idea! Didn't think of that. I will tell her when I go to pick up my new box turtle from her.

She wants a family with no other tortoises. No indoor enclosures, ect.

Thanks,
Shelly

I am located in Tucson and would cut off my left arm to adopt a Desert hatchling. Are any still available? :)
