He doesn't like to be watched...

...while eating. Almost every time I give Crush food, he just stares at it if I am watching him. If i leave and then peek around the corner he starts munching away. But, if he notices I'm watching again, he stops.

Most baby tortoises are like that. It has to do with them being prey. A giant hovering over them is pretty scary.

One of my Russians is that way also; Unless there is a dandelion flower involved. Then he will climb over your hand to get it.

I try and always talk to him. I guess he just needs to get used to me/us.

P.S. I wish there was a 'like' button for some of these posts/ replies that I've been reading!:D

I've had Omaha, my little Sulcata, for almost a week now and he's been the same way! I'm watching now by peaking over the sofa. He's been warming up to me little by little each day, though. I can't wait until he gets fully comfortable!
