Aw, he sees how much attention the torts get! :) I don't know if just the grapes are toxic or grape leaves as well with dogs. Just a heads up!

I have heard/read grapes are toxic to dogs. One day when my daughter was packing her lunch for school she left a brand new bag of grapes on the counter when we left for school. When I came home ALL of the grapes were gone along with the stems and most of the plastic! Seriously?!?! Our 1 year old boxer just helped herself! She's 2.5 now and doing fine...but we don't give her any more grapes!

Grapes are only mildly toxic, and are going to effect different dogs differently, of course.

At any rate my dog is the same way! He actually LOVES most plants.

Grapes are kidney toxic and sometimes take 24 hours to a week to see effects. Unless blood work is done we can't say they have no effect ya know? You can have kidney disease in an animal and not have it outwardly appear to effect it. This is from my partner (small animal vet.)
I'm sure some animals react to a small amount and some to a much larger amount. Same with the onion family etc
A lot of us grew up feeding our dog scraps every night while some dogs die from complications involving people food weekly here.

That is a fun pic and funny dog.....enjoy the fun stuff and I wonder if we all ate a bit more like our torts how much healthier we would be, Lord knows I could never do it, but have wondered nonetheless...

We had a 115 pound rott/shep mix, he was like a human garbage can (not intentionally in the beginning--found out my son was sharing lots of goodies with him when they would hang out)....he would eat chocolate, grapes and all kinds of other stuff (now, I am not in any way promoting that anyone do this with their dog--as each dog is absolutely different)....my son had this thing where when he was small he had to eat those little personal pizzas, well he did not like the crust---he would eat the centers of each piece and then would, without looking, toss the crust over towards Jake (the dog) and no matter what, Jake would catch it and patiently sit on the side lines and wait for their snack time....I also, would sit and eat grapes---one for me and one for you kinda thing with Jake----well, Jake was about 13 when we had our last ride---he eventually went due to his bones/joints---he was a hard runner and loved to jump, which I knew was not good because of his size--but hell, always figured what good is a day without living it....thanks for this thread----what a great moment to remember :D

Ya we have had him for about 5 or 6 months, I wasnt to fond of the idea about getting a little dog but I really love this little guy now. Dogs are ALWAYS happy to see you, this little guy gets so excited when we come home he starts choking. Have you ever heard the country song, ( just love me like my dog does) :D Ive been mentioning that song to my wife lately. Sounds like you need a puppy

He's so cute...like someone said earlier, it may be the attention the torts are getting that's making him eat like one. But, seriously, grapes and raisins are deadly for dogs. It's just not worth finding out if your dog can tolerate it or not. If you love your animals, please keep things that can kill them away from them.
