[split] A few questions...

Is a ceramic infrared heat emitter 60watt okay? The brand is reptocare. Is this okay??? I have a wooden tort table I just made that 4x2 ft. I think I need it warmer. I've been told to hang the light, I have a clamp light, but have rocks underneath to catch the heat. Also my UVB... It's only on one side, is that ok or does that need to be hung as well?

I've asked this in two other places but haven't gotten a response so I'm starting a thread. I'm just a worried first time mom

Hi Taylor:

When you have your own question, and you are not responding to someone else's question/thread, its always best to start your own thread and pose the question. I've taken your question off of that other member's thread and merged it here on your thread.

Some tips on making the habitat warmer:

lower the light/CHE
cover or partially cover the habitat.

When I have to bring a tub of babies in the house for the winter, I usually take two or three LONG sheets of aluminum foil. You lay one on top of the other, then on one long edge, make several folds, folding the two strips together. Then you open them up and it makes one large sheet. I cover the habitat, lights and all with the aluminum foil. This keeps out the cold room air and keeps in the warm air from the light/che. If it gets too warm, I can uncover part of it.

It did have something to do with that thread... I wouldn't just randomly post but okay....

It's a clamp light so I can't lower it. I'll have to try the aluminum foil though!

Be very careful using the clamp part of the light. They have been known to not hold and cause fires or tort burns. Better if you can hang it. Also makes it easier to adjust it up and down to make the enclosure warmer or cooler.
