I have a new baby sulcata. I'm struggling to know what is "normal" for his shell and pyramiding. I feel like I've down ample research and his husbandry is pretty solid. I'm just not sure if I should be concerned about his shell? Is this normal? Is it starting to pyramid?20200608_190653.jpg20200608_190648.jpg

He's definitely starting to pyramid.

Check out the care sheets in the Sulcata section.

It looks like there is some pyramiding going on there. What type of enclosure are you using? What are the temps and humidity within the enclosure. Pictures of the enclosure will help. Also, in case you havent seen them yet, I've attached the care sheet down below. They are best thing for getting all of your husbandry answers in one place.

Thank you so so much! I couldn't find it, this site confuses me. My husbandry is definitely off. And I was going by what the breeder suggested. Definitely wasn't soaking him everyday! Was only doing twice a week for 10 minutes. I haven't had him for more than a few weeks. His humidity stays about 60 so I will bump that up. I was concerned when I saw his urine and it was chalky, so I just bumped up the humidity to about 75. This is really helpful. I feel like there is such misinformation out there!

You've made it to the right place to get the most accurate information out there. While there are topics that definitely have room for debate, most people that have been here awhile agree that the care sheets written for all the different species are a great way to go.

I do have a tortoise box. Any ideas on how to improve the humidity in there besides misting? Substrate is reptibark.

He looks to me like he was started too dry at the breeders way before you got him...read those care sheets...they give exact information...show us pix of your enclosure...ask questions...
