I picked up my heat gun on eBay. I went with a very well rated seller in the USofA. As for placement of the digital thermometer you need this to be mounted at about mid-height of the tortoise carapace. This gives you a better idea of the heat he is experiencing. And move it around the room a lot for a couple hours each time to give you an idea of the areas that are just simply too cold for him. Maybe even draw out a diagram and write the temps down for easier memory.
