New baby Dalmatian Hermanns Tortoise!

This is Beanz!

He's my second tort! He just arrived today from Tortoise Supply, which is a great website to buy tortoises from. Beanz is about 3-5 months old, and he is a Dalmatian Hermanns Tortoise. My other tortoise is Henry, a Russian tort. I've had him for about 6 months and he's super sweet! So exited I joined Tort Forum!

@hunterk997 - yes we have Timothy hay in half and sand/soil in the other half. I'm thinking of switching to aspen instead of hay. Is the hay a poor substrate for Russian? He usually burrows into the hay to sleep.

Be careful with Hay. It dries the babies out very quickly and when moisture is added to it, it molds very quickly

@aztortmom - Thanks so much for pointing out the hay substrate. I went out this morning and got some plain Cypress mulch to replace the hay, removed the sand and substituted untreated topsoil. I'm sure they will be happier!

Your tortoise is so beautiful! We were considering getting a leopard, but we did not have enough room for a tortoise that gets kind of big. That's why we decided to get a smaller breed! But anyway, he is a beauty!
