Hello! I'm new here & a new tortoise owner! My name is Kerri & I'm 27yrs old. I'm from a small town in northern North Carolina. I looove animals & always have... It's been a dream of mine to own a tortoise for 20+ yrs... & just found out that they're allowed to be shipped here, Sooo... in NC, its illegal to sell turtles & tortoises . & I hated to have the poor thing go try the mail... But, the place swore it was safe for him.. so.. he arrived on the 2nd! Amy very own Greek Tortoise hatchling! He's supposed to be around 2mos old. He was friendly, right after his 1st soaking & was exploring his cage & eating... then, a huge nap. this is day 3, & he took his first finger feeding today & I was beyond tickled! he's a real cutie.
My pets are as follows.. but they're my children, really. Everyone is spoiled rotten! I have a big soft spot for special needs animals & several are special needs.. ill talk more on that, later.

My family & I also work a lot with special needs animals...mostly dogs (physical and behavioural special needs), but have had other animals come and go.

He does seem full of surprises! Esp. Yesterday during bath time... I usually drip water over his shell & head, to get him wet all over.. & hadn't done it yet... So, he took it to rubbing his cute little nubby foot, over top of his head, to get it wet... he'd do it & then look at me like, "well? Are you gonna wet me down, or do I have to do it myself?" & after I dripped water all over him, he stopped. it was too cute! He's developing such a big personality! I love him to bits, already! I got him on the 2nd, & can actually see where he's grown some already - very trippy! Here's s picture during brekkie this morn.
