Just wanted to ask really erm....
Crush has never hibernated, and have been told not to let him here in the UK as the temp varies.
I dont want to hibernate him because like other unexperianced people im frightened to death to loose him...miss him like crazy!

But just wanted to ask what do they get out of it? Is it just a big long lie in?

And if they havnt hibernated before will it matter not hbernating him?

The only reason a turtle or tortoise hibernates is due to the fact that the weather he lives in turns cold and there is no heat source to warm him up. A tortoise kept in the house under lights and heat has no reason to hibernate. Just keep the lights on 12 to 14 hours so he doesn't realize the days are getting shorter, and he will stay awake just fine.

Some people will tell you that they need a hibernation period in order to become sexually active. But all I do is remove the males from the females for a week or so. When you put them back together...voila!! sexually active!
