I bought my Russian tortoise from petco last summer before moving to college. I've had him for about 6 months now. I don't know how old he is and I also didn't know that Russian tortoises hibernated. It's December now and I don't know anything about hibernating a tortoise! What are the signs? Is it bad if I don't hibernate my tortoise? I don't want any negative feedback, please and thankyou! Some people choose to hibernate, some don't. Is he slowing down at all? Does he seem to sleep more? If I was you I would do my Hwk and plan to hibernate next winter. It's ultimately a personal choice.

Hibernation is optional.

Are you feeding him Avocado in that pic? Avocado is a "NO FEED" and can harm your tort. I'm not positive, but PEAS (if thats whats in the pic) are also a "NO FEED" and can also harm your tort.
