Are redfoots prone to eating their poop about 5 mins after they go? Sorry but I dont know a better way of asking this question. She does that every time if I dont get to her box in time to remove it....

I clean out poop as soon as I see it... but it doesn't hurt them to eat it in my opinion... tons of animals eat their own feces, its pretty natural.

They say that dogs do it because they are lacking something in their diet and well, if it is Cat poop then, it is just their delicacy.

Removing it is the best move.

Its called cacophagy, and it is common in a lot of animals, including Red-foots. As long as the tortoises are not on any medications there is no big deal- we find it nasty but they do it all of the time.

They will also try to eat other animal's poo. Not a big deal if it is the poo of animals that are mostly herbivores, but the poo of meat-eaters (like dogs and cats) is not really good for them.

Keep things clean and remove wastes, but don't sweat it too much.

Ick, another poop post.

I think it is time to create an entire section for Poop Posts. It is a topic that we can not eliminate.;)
