I recently went on holiday for a week and took my three tortoises to a local reptile shop for them to look after whilst i was away when i got back i found out they had all been kept together 2 spur thighed that are coming up to 2 and a hermann that is around six. I keep them seperate at home and thought it was best to keep species seperate but they said as they are both from the mediterranean it was ok.

Do they realize the Mediterranean is a large area? A tort from say Spain would carry different internal "bugs" than one from Greece. Sometimes the ignorance (and I'm being kind with that term) of "experts" is astonding.

one of the baby spur thigh who normally has a massive appetite and is quite aggressive in general and when eating. But has seemed more passive since I have got back off holiday do you think she could have caught something.

ur baby spur thigh could of caught an *** whooping! which is the reason shes more passive now....just a thought!

I would just keep and eye on your torts for a while to make sure they are fine. When all three where together they could have been bullying the one that is now passive. The stress of them being moved could have cause the behavior change. Like I said keep your eye on them. If their appetites drop or the amount of energy levels plummet then I would get concerned..

I was so afraid, when I started reading this that you were about to tell us that they placed them in with some of their stock or even sold them accidentally. So it could be worse.

I would advise the same thing as the last post. Not much you can do at this point but watch closely.

i was watching lucy today and she was sat by her food eating very slowly as if she was struggerling to find energy to eat and has been sleeping more she has no signs of a runny nose though and has been eating.

Danielededwards2006, I don't advocate taking torts to the vet just for slow eating but I would be concerned if she seems so weak. If you can you might want to get a culture done of her gut flora. It will stress her more. But will tell you what bateria or parisites she may have if any. she may still just be stressed. Only you can make the call. Good luck Please keep us informed
